Ophthalmic Reconstruction & Orbital Surgery Fellowship Program
This is a one-year Fellowship that primarily utilizes the resources of the New England Eye Center, the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and the Beth Israel Hospital. These institutions are affiliated with Tufts and Harvard Universities.
The program is designed to train physicians who have a commitment to teaching and research, as well as clinical practice. Experience will be obtained by participation in the care of patients with New England Eye Center physicians. Opportunities will be provided for training in orbital anatomy, pathology, dermatology, radiology and related fields.
The Fellow is expected to carry out a clinical or basic science research program. If possible, this research should be planned by the beginning of the Fellowship year so that a thesis can be completed by the end of that Period.
This Fellowship has been approved by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The Fellow is expected to submit an application for membership and a thesis to the Society during or within one year after completion of the Fellowship.

Dr. Heher is Director of the Eye Plastics and Orbit Service at New
England Eye Center. She served her residency at Wilmer Eye Institute.
She completed two fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania,
one in Oculoplastic Surgery and one in Neuro-Ophthalmology.
Appointment

Fellowship appointments run from July 7 to July 6 each year. A Fellowship stipend will be provided, with the specific amount available for future Fellowship years to be determined by discussion with the Program Directors. The Fellow is encouraged to apply for research grants and other sources of aid. |

The fellow takes emergency calls with staff surgeon support. |

One or two fellowship appointments are awarded annually. The New England Eye Center participates in the Ophthalmology Fellowship Matching Program. |
