Here are 8 Things to Know About the EVO Visian ICL Right Now

When most people think about a vision correction procedure, the first thing that comes to mind is LASIK. But LASIK isn’t the only vision correction surgery.

One popular vision correction option is the EVO Visian ICL. Like LASIK, the EVO Visian ICL can give you 20/20 vision and eliminate the need for glasses and contact lenses.

But it also has several other benefits that set it apart from other vision correction procedures. Want to learn more about this incredible procedure? Keep reading to find out 8 things to know about the EVO Visian ICL right now!

1. ICL Stands for Implantable Collamer Lens

EVO Visian ICL isn’t just the name of a surgical procedure; it’s also the name of the lens you’ll have implanted in your eye. This lens functions much like a contact lens.

The EVO ICL changes how light refracts before it passes through the lens in your eye. But instead of being placed on the surface of your eye, the ICL is put inside your eye behind the iris and in front of the natural lens.

The ICL never needs to be changed out like traditional contact lenses. It’s made from a material called collamer. Collamer is related to collagen, a protein produced naturally by your body.

Because of its material, the EVO Visian ICL is highly biocompatible, which integrates well with the rest of your eye. After you’ve had it implanted and recovered from the procedure, you won’t be able to feel it at all. Nobody needs to know it’s in your eye except for you, either, because it’s virtually invisible to the naked eye.

2. It’s For Nearsighted Patients with Astigmatism

The EVO Visian ICL can correct nearsightedness and mild astigmatism. It cannot correct farsightedness.

If you’re farsighted, you’ll need to investigate and look into different kinds of vision correction procedures. But the EVO Visian ICL can correct nearsightedness to a remarkable degree, even more than LASIK surgery.

If you have severe nearsightedness, the EVO Visian ICL may be the only kind of vision correction procedure that can fully correct your refractive error.

3. It’s For Patients Aged 21 to 45

To be a qualified candidate for the EVO Visian ICL, you need to be at least 21 years old. Your prescription also needs to be stable before you can have the procedure.

Although there technically isn’t any upper age limit for the procedure, if you’re 45 or older, another vision correction surgery may suit you better. Most people over 45 suffer from some degree of presbyopia.

The EVO Visian ICL cannot correct presbyopia. A procedure that can correct presbyopia and an existing refractive error, like refractive lens exchange (RLE), is a better option for older patients.

4. It’s Great For Patients Who Don’t Qualify for LASIK

LASIK surgery is highly effective, but it requires creating a flap in the cornea to correct vision. Your cornea needs to be a certain thickness to make this flap.

You won’t qualify for LASIK if your cornea is too thin. As EVO Visian ICL doesn’t require a corneal flap, it’s an excellent option for patients with thin corneas who still want vision correction surgery. Even if you don’t qualify for LASIK, it doesn’t have to mean the end of your aspirations for vision correction.

5. The Procedure is Minimally Invasive

Another advantage that the EVO Visian ICL has over vision correction procedures like LASIK is that it’s incredibly minimally invasive. The surgery only requires a tiny incision.

The ICL is then folded up and inserted into the incision, where it’s then unfurled and positioned inside your eye. The incision is so small it heals on its own without stitches.

6. Recovery from the Procedure is Also Minimal

Since the EVO Visian ICL does not involve removing tissue from the eye and disturbs very little tissue in the eye, it means there’s a rapid recovery. It also means the procedure has a lower risk of causing long-term side effects like dry eye than other vision correction surgeries like LASIK.

Since the ICL is also biocompatible, recovery is much faster and easier than recovery from other vision correction procedures. You’ll be able to get back to the things you love in less time and do it with incredibly crisp and clear vision!

7. It’s the Only Reversible Vision Correction Procedure

The EVO Visian ICL is the only vision correction procedure you can reverse. If you ever decide you no longer want your ICL, you can have it removed.

The ICL can also stay inside your eye indefinitely, but knowing there is an option to remove it gives many patients peace of mind. Vision correction procedures like LASIK can be intimidating since they permanently change your vision.

Not only is EVO Visian ICL a less invasive option than those other surgeries, but it’s also less of a commitment since it’s always reversible.

8. It’ll Give You Visual Freedom

The main goal of any vision correction procedure is to eliminate the need for traditional visual aids. The EVO Visian ICL can do just that, giving you incredible vision and total visual freedom.

The surgery is a great option for many patients who want visual freedom but don’t qualify for LASIK or want a less invasive procedure. There’s more than one option for vision correction, and the EVO Visian ICL is worth considering!
