Specialties

Dr. Raizman is a specialist in laser vision correction, cataract, and surgical and medical treatment of the cornea. He has performed thousands of refractive surgery procedures and more than 10,000 cataract and corneal procedures.

Dr. Raizman trained at the University of Michigan and Harvard Medical Schools. After two Fellowships at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, he did three years of research at Harvard Medical School, funded by a National Institute of Health grant. Dr. Raizman served on the full-time faculty at Harvard Medical School from 1988-1991.

Now an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Raizman has directed the Corneal Fellowship Training Program there since 1991. He is on the medical staff at Tufts Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He now serves as an examiner for doctors seeking certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Raizman began using the Excimer Laser in 1991 as an investigator for the early U.S. trials of the Summit Laser. He has continued to serve as an investigator for new developments in laser technology.

Dr. Raizman has taught hundreds of ophthalmologists in the use of the Excimer laser and has been invited to speak at the annual American Academy of Ophthalmology Refractive Surgery meeting and other national and international meetings on new techniques in refractive surgery.

Dr. Raizman has delivered more than 400 invited lectures throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, and Asia and has been a visiting professor at the medical schools of Columbia University, the University of California at Los Angeles, University of Michigan, University of Texas, Loyola, and others. In 2006 he gave the Distinguished Alumnus lecture at the University of Michigan Medical School, Dept. of Ophthalmology.

He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed medical journal articles, book chapters, and books. Selected by his peers to be included in the latest edition of Best Doctors in America, Dr. Raizman also was recognized by “Boston Magazine” as one of the top ophthalmologists in Boston, and he is included in “Who’s Who in America”.

Dr. Raizman is on the editorial board of the Archives of Ophthalmology and Therapeutic Updates in Ophthalmology. In 2007 he received a senior honor award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his scientific presentations and educational activities over the past 20 years.
